Joshua Thomas
Hunter. Guide. First Responder.
Joshua lives in Wichita Falls, Texas, with his wife and three children and works as a firefighter EMT for the city, something he’s wanted to do since he was a kid. Although he didn’t grow up hunting, he became passionate about it after a coworker introduced him to training dogs and calling ducks, eventually making his own calls and training his own dogs.
Through his photography, he connected with Muddy Water Outfitters and has been guiding waterfowl hunts with them since 2020.
“I didn’t grow up hunting. Although I dreamed of it regularly. Through a friend at work I learned about training dogs, blowing calls, and everything in between. I was instantly hooked.”
What’s your favorite species to hunt and fish for?
My favorite species to hunt is without a doubt Wigeon in a wheat field. Which typically means geese too. It’s hard to beat a goose/ widge combo. I also can’t pass up mallards in pretty much any setting. I love chasing trout in the off season and won’t turn my nose up to a good set of pigeons over decoys.
What’s your bucket list destination to hunt and fish?
If I could go anywhere to hunt and fish, a bucket list destination for me would have to be New Zealand. The best of both worlds chasing big geese, big browns, and different species I’ve never seen.
My “local” bucket list hunt would be greenheads in Montana.
To be honest I have way too many bucket list hunts.
Why is the Duck Camp brand special to you?
I think Duck Camp really embodies what waterfowling and the chase is all about. It’s about the Camp. The time in the blind, the in between, the banter, and friendships. That’s what makes duck hunting great.

What’s your favorite Game Series hat?
Give me that Mallard!!
What’s your favorite piece of Duck Camp gear?
I love putting on my soft shell bibs. 1 they’re warm and comfortable with plenty of pockets. 2 that means I’m fixing to go hunt a dry field and who doesn’t love that?
