Heather Harkavy
Angler. Founder. Conservationist.
Heather is the co-founder and Executive Director of Fish for Change, an organization that connects young anglers worldwide through fly fishing, environmental stewardship, and cultural exchange. Raised in South Florida, she found grounding and purpose in fishing from an early age and sought to build a stronger youth community around the sport.
She is driven by storytelling, human connection, and creating empowering spaces that help young people grow into confident, curious, and compassionate leaders.
“I grew up in South Florida spending free time on the ocean where fishing became both a grounding force and a teacher early on. I always craved a youthful community in fly fishing and Fish for Change brought that to life.”
What’s your favorite species to hunt and fish for?
My favorite species to pursue is whatever I can sight fish for. If the visual element of meeting the fish where it is at and watching it feed is there, I am probably screaming pretty loud and super stoked.
What’s your bucket list destination to hunt and fish?
My bucket list fishing destination is more of a concept than a destination. I want to get dropped off on an island with a few friends for a week. We each bring ten items. We play survivor. We camp, dive for protein, fly fish for fun, and figure it out.
Why is the Duck Camp brand special to you?
The Duck Camp brand is special to me because of Community Leader Mason McPherson. :) Mason was a Fish for Change student, turned Trip Leader, turned Duck Camper!
Through Mason, I have been exposed to Duck Camp’s team. There is a lot of apparel to choose from out there and let’s be honest - it is all pretty great stuff in today's age. What I care about is the heart and intentions of the team.
Duck Camp has created a family that cares. They take care of the resources they love and use their platform as a resource to uplift communities and create a fun culture. Grateful to be on board with Duck Camp and have you guys supporting our efforts at Fish for Change!

What’s your favorite Game Series hat?
The bucket hat. Duh.
If that answer is not acceptable then I will go with the blue crab hat!
What’s your favorite piece of Duck Camp gear?
I love the womens pants! Favorite women's fishing pants on the market by far. Comfy waist band, ankle cinches, deep pockets, light weight, quick dry.
